Schedule Now!The gas filling leak detection method is one of the oldest leak detection methods used by professional leak detecting companies. Here a container is filled with air that is pressurized to an optimal level. The container is then dipped under water. If there is a leak, bubbles will start surfacing.
The leak rate of the appliance or device is measured by collecting these bubbles, measuring their volume and dividing this volume by measured time. It may sound easy but this method needs some precautions when there are high filling pressures. For example, a container containing high-pressure air can burst or explode during the entire testing process. A safe distance between the testing equipment and the operator will ensure safety.
A geophone is a device that is used to convert displacement or ground movement into voltage. The reading is then recorded at a recording station. Any changes in the measured voltage from the baseline is known as seismic response and forms the basis for analyzing the structure of the earth. Most geophones are used in reflection seismology where the device records the energy waves that are the results of reflection from subsurface geology. The primary focus when that happens is the vertical motion of the surface of the earth.
However, note that some waves travel in a horizontal direction as well. A strong wave that is transmitted horizontally may generate vertical motion negating the impact, as well as information, of weaker vertical signals. Using large areal arrays that are tuned to the horizontal waves’ wavelength, one can attenuate dominant noise signals and reinforce the weaker data signals.
